14 Simple Things a Stay-at-Home Mom Needs To Do for Herself Every Day

Nowadays, Stay-at-Home Mom is doing it all. Attending house chores, looking after the children and finding ways to earn while at home.

With all that they are doing alone, they don’t have time left for themselves. Being a Stay-at-Home Mom becomes one of the challenging and tiresome jobs. Moms are so busy taking care of other and forgetting themselves.

Now it high time Stay-at-Home mom needs to realize as much we love our family and need to take care of them we need to create time for ourselves every day to unwind and relax.

Having that in mind here are 14 simple things a Stay-at-Home Mom needs to do for herself every day after a daylong or before they start their daily duties.

Meditate

After I prepare breakfast for my family, I relax on the couch or go back to bed for few minutes.  I start to think “what is the one thing I need for myself. Who is this Lucy? And blah! Blah. It makes me not lose myself. I create time for myself and think myself.

Take three balanced meal every day

Mom will agree with me we spend most of our time feeding our families. We prepare favorite food for our children and hubbies and forget even us we need that balanced diet in our plate, or we have a favorite meal for ourselves.  We even make a habit of eating two hours after everyone does.

Advice: From today make sure at least in a week you prepare your favorite food instead of your hubbies and kid. Take breakfast, lunch, and dinner while other members of the family are taking, not after two-hour when food is cold. Make sure your diet is well balanced and not to take scraps from your children

Make yourself a priority

When was the last time you are making a list, and you put yourself on top of the list? We start with what the children need and then we fix ourselves at the end of the list as by the way.

Story for the day

There is this lady who told me there is a time she went to buy a shoe for herself. She needed the shoe because all her shoes were torn. When she went to the store, she saw cute clothes and shoes for the kid. She went ahead and bought two pairs of clothes and matching shoes to her kid who had so many pairs of shoe at home.

When she went back home and removed the shoe at the front door which was the habit the child started enjoying her that the shoes she had worn were tattered. The first son asked her Mommy I heard you saying that you had gone to buy shoes why didn’t put this old shoe on the paper bag and put on the new shoes the way we did the other day when you and daddy bought a shoe for us.

Only to realize she didn’t even buy even a single item for her. She went and bought shoes and clothes for her kid and yet they had bought for them the other day.

Advice: From today as you list down the things to buy for your family make sure you have one item at top five that belongs to you.  Don’t feel guilty on that. Try to reward or treat yourself with an item that you need.

You can buy something small like a piece of jewelry, pant or bra.

Create “me time.”

14 Simple Things a Stay-at-Home Mom Needs To Do for Herself Every Day

You don’t have to be perfect Stay-at -Home Mom every day. When your kid takes a nap instead of washing dishes you too can take a 30-minute nap on the couch, take a glass of wine or a piece of chocolate while relaxing on the coach. A perfect mom does not exist.

Find something small to treat yourself every day because the duties you are doing are not such easy.

Learn to Say No

Just because you are Stay- at -Home Mom, who said that you are idle the whole day. I always tell my friends who work or attend their business that they always sleep before me because I’ve so much to handle every day. Learn to make your choices. Prioritize and eliminate what can wait like two days or few hours.  If a request from a friend is not possible, learn to say no you don’t have to explain yourself so much.

Take 30 Minute naps

Wow, this makes me feel relaxed, energetic, fresh the whole day and makes me work even late hours at night. When I feel exhausted or am not tired, I wait my two-year-old daughter take an afternoon nap, rest my body 30 minutes on the couch. I’ve made a habit every day even if my kid won’t sleep I keep them busy with toys or kid program they love, and I take my 30-minute nap.

Make a habit of reading.

Even if you are Stay-at-Home Mom, never stop improving yourself and renewing your mind. It can only happen when you read a book that can leave your mind with new ideas.

You can read a bible, stay at home mom books, motivational books, motherhood, parenting, self-improvement books and fiction books. Find that one book that interests you.

Exercise

Stay at home mom exercise

Make a practice of exercising daily. Find one simple exercise that you don’t need equipment, workout cloth and can take only take less than 30 minutes. My favorite is plank (5 minutes), 10-20 sit up and skipping rope. Sometimes I even pretend to be jogging in front of a mirror for only 15 minutes. Skipping it not necessary you have a rope you can fake jumping without a rope.

Other simple exercises you can do at home.

 Have a daily schedule

The plan helps have an organized day. Have time for cleaning, eating or personal time and stick to your program daily

You can read my daily schedule here.

Ask for assistance

You can ask your older siblings to help with some house chores. Request your husband when he is free on the weekends to look after the children or assist in some duties in the home.

Hire someone to help if you can afford and need it.

Start a day with shower

I never start a day with a shower. I start cleaning the house, but I make a habit of changing from pajamas and put on clean clothes (not tattered but something neat) to do the cleaning in the house. Even if you find me cleaning, you will think I have showered. After am done, I shower.

Have a hobby

Don’t stay at home the whole day repeating the same thing cleaning house, feeding children, laundry and washing dishes. Except the daily duties discover what else ignites your heart may it be knitting, writing, baking, cooking and much more.

Note: Turn your hobbies and passion as a tool to earn money. What do I mean, if you are good at baking, bake cakes and sell them to nearby neighbors and friends? Knit smart sweaters or shawl and sell them at a profit.

Remember your health

When was the last time you visited your gynecologists or dentist? At least once in a year visit nearby health center for health checkups.

Pray

Make it habit of praying every day. I always tell people it’s not a must you sit down for thirty minutes to pray sometimes have a simple pray for about five or less and talk to your God.
