Step by step how to clean teething toys

  • Wash with hand using warm soapy water

Wash them using warm soapy water (mild dish detergent), scrub using a sponge, then rinse with clean water.

  • Use a mixture of baking soda and water

Mix baking soda and water

Soak microfiber cloth in the mixture.

Wipe the teething toys using a damp cloth with a mixture of baking soda and water.

You can use the same mixture and soak them for a few minutes.

  • Use of a mixture of warm water and white vinegar

You need one part water and one part white vinegar 50/50. Mix both of them in a bowl.

Soak the teething toy in a mixture of warm water with white vinegar. After 15 minutes rinse with clean water.

You can wipe the toy using a soft washcloth with a mixture of water and vinegar.

  • Use dishwasher

Before using this method make sure the teether is dishwasher safe.

Put the teething toys in the laundry mesh bag. The laundry mesh bag prevents toys from falling into the dishwasher

How to sterilize teething toys

  • Use of boiling water

Put the teething toys in boiling water for five minutes. Remove them and let them completely cool before giving them to the baby

Put the toys in the sterilizing bag / Microwave Steam Steriliser and pop them in the microwave for a few minutes

When using sterilizing bag add 60mls of filtered water, close the bag, set microwave from 700-1100watts, and sterilize for 3-minutes. After 3 minutes remove the bag from the microwave drain the water.

Sterilizing using Microwave Steam Steriliser you need to fill the base with 250 ml of water, load the teethers, set microwave from 1000 watts, and sterilize for 4-minutes

  • Use of a mixture of vinegar and water.

Soak the teething toys overnight using a mixture of one part vinegar and one part water 50/50 

How to clean wooden teething toys

Wooden teething toys are not supposed to soak in water. Wood absorbs water quickly and develops mold if not dried well.

Clean wooden teething toy by wiping using a dry microfiber cloth with a mixture of vinegar and water.

Dip microfiber cloth in a mixture of water and vinegar.

Wipe the wooden teething toy.

You can use pacifier wipes to wipe the wooden toys or toys that use batteries.

How to clean water-filled teether

Use warm water and soap and hand washes them.

You can clean them in the dishwasher but make sure they are in the laundry mesh bag. The laundry mesh bag prevents toys from falling in the dishwasher.

The water-filled teether should not be sterilized using hot water but cold water.

Add cold water in a container and add a sterilizing tablet

Soak the teether for a few minutes

How to clean cloth teethers

The cloth teether is made of terry washcloth material or cotton.

You can take care of them by soaking them in hot water and use baby soap to clean them

Most of the cloth teether can be put in the washing machine, put in the pillowcase/ laundry mesh bag before throwing in the washing machine, wash it in a delicate washer, and air dry.

Always read manufacturer instructions to confirm whether the teether is washing machine safe.
