Imagine waking up to this clean kitchen, organized sitting room, clothes ready, lunch and bag packed everything at the right place. Is this amazing and possible? Yes, this would be possible if you have an evening routine.
An evening routine is a set of activities you perform every night before you go to bed. An evening routine is also called a bedtime routine or nighttime routine.
A good evening routine can help you have a successful morning routine. Planning the night before helps achieve more on the morning routine.
Have a look at a stay at home mom evening routine
Am a stay-at-home mom for the last 10 years my evening routine starts at 5 pm.
Prepare dinner for the family, children bathe and we have dinner.
Family bedtime ritual
8 Pm children go to sleep. Husband or I help put kids to sleep, read a book and give a story to them.
Prepare the following day meal
Before I sleep I make sure I have organized what to cook for the following day breakfast and lunch.
At this time you can take meat or boiled cereals out of the fridge to defrost.
Clean the kitchen
I am not talking about deep cleaning. Cleaning the kitchen means cleaning the dishes, wiping down counters, sweeping the floor, and storing leftovers.
Cleaning the kitchen takes less than 30 minutes.
Tidy up the sitting room
Once the kids are sleeping pick up the toys and keep them at the right place.
Clear the table make sure the thing is supposed to be on the shelf or drawers are back in. Things like bills, mails, magazines and TV remote should not be on the table.
If it is school-going days I make sure kids’ lunch is packed. The books are in the bags. In case am planning to get out I pack my bag.
Set clothes for the next day
I make sure clothes and shoes for the following day are ready, the ones that require ironing I iron them.
Check out the following day schedule
Create 5 minutes to check your following schedule. When you wake up you won’t walk around thinking what to do.
More mom schedule
- Stay at home mom schedule
- Stay at home mom schedule for a toddler
- Stay at home mom schedule with school-age
- Stay at home mom with an infant
If you don’t have a schedule buy a mom planner and make a habit every evening to write a list of things to do the following day.
I bathe and exercise in the morning the same thing in the evening. I work out for 10 minutes, brush my teeth, and shower.
Create me time
Create some minutes on yourself before bedtime. During this time you can read a bible or book, have time with your husband, exercise, watch a movie or continue working on my blog until 10 pm.
Sometimes I can use this time to learn a new course or just sit on the bed working on my hobby of crocheting or making mats. Find hobbies for stay-at-home moms.
Set tomorrow alarm
I set alarm to help wake up at the right time the following day.
Best alarm clock
I start my day with prayers and I end my day with prayers
I make sure I go to bed at 10 pm every day.
